Plans to build the 17' ablemarle power skipjack boat. the ablemarle was designed for a customer who was looking for offshore boat operations using a very small, economical diesel engine. this boat can handle all sorts of conditions, cary heavy loads, yet move along at hull speed with only a few horsepower.. These wooden motor boat plans use a true displacement hull that is suited for lower speed and has low power requirements. what we kept from the original hull was the high bow and a very similar nice classic sheer line.. Boats with a heavy d/l will have the most comfortable motion but passage times may be slower. at the other extreme, ultra-light displacement boats may be fun for short periods of round-the-buoys racing but will give an exhausting ride..
